Kevin Jeffery Grantham Friend was born to Annett Grantham Friend and the late Theodore Friend on October 31, 1956 in Chester, Pennsylvania. He departed this life on August 11, 2019 at Crozer Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father Theordore Friend, son Khalif Friend, sister Kim Robinson, brothers, Theodore, Keith, Steve and David Friend and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

Kevin attended the Chester public schools, graduating from Chester High School in 1974. He was an avid sports fan and played soccer during his high school years. He enlisted in the military after high school serving in the United States Marine Corps for five years. During his time in the Marine Corps he coached youth basketball in Hawaii. He also loved baseball and played in the little league as a youth. He worked many different jobs after returning from the military but, healthcare was his passion.

Kevin was a walking Wikapedia. On any given day you could ask him a question about almost anything and, he would have some knowledge of it. If they printed it, he read it. Sports and politics were his favorite topics, however, he was a versed reader of just about all topics. Reading at least four newspapers daily and viewing sports, past and current endlessly, was a priority. Food was his second passion, a good meal was sure to make him smile. He enjoyed conversations and heated debates. Family was very important to him and, he loved family gatherings. Not only did he enjoy laughing and smiling but, he enjoyed making others laugh and smile. He took pride in his accomplishments and other's as well. Kevin will be sadly missed by so many. To know him was to love him.

Kevin is survived by his wife Arlene Mapp Friend, five children, Kevin Friend Jr,
Kendell Friend, Nijah Friend, Shamera Pratt ( Larry), and Rosheita Summers; 4
grandchildren, Heaven, Kiori, Saldin, and Khalif; mother Annette Friend, 2
brothers, Michael and Madison Friend; 3 sisters Veneice Welles (Calvin Welles),
Adrienne and Stephanie Friend; 4 uncles, Thomas Friend(Iona), Ralph
Jackson(LuLu), Thomas Jackson(Diane) and special uncle Robert Jackson and a
host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

To: Annett Friend and family. We are so sorrow to hear of the loss of your beloved son, Kevin. We remember when he was young and I thought he looked so much like his father. So disappointed that we can't be there because of other commitments, but our sincere thought and prayers are with you. We pray that our Heavenly Father will bring comfort to each of you and provide continuous care for the entire family. We truly Love You,

With deepest sympathy,
Sonny, Janice, Taneka, Marrio Moore and family to include Janett Jones, Emanuel, Anthony and Sophia Barnett.
